Last summer my Mom and her best friend Ethel joined us for a couple of days at a beautiful rental near the beach. Between my family, my in-laws, my two dogs and our close friends Mike and Danielle with their kids - it was a houseful of fun with lots of drinks flowing. Now anyone that knows me well will tell you I'm strictly a white wine girl, and so is my friend Danielle. And, up until that week we had always considered ourselves VERY loyal to the grape. Well, in comes my Mom and Ethel with a bottle of Aperol, schooling us on this new "hip" cocktail that was all the rage. Of course we poo-poo'd it, and rolled our eyes as we sipped our chilled Chardonnay. Finally, after much convincing we caved and tried one, then two....SOLD. Absolutely delicious and we felt so hip (especially after our third cocktail)! I guess Mom is always right:).
